Albertville – Men's Sweater

An Iconic Olympic Sweater by Dale of Norway

Originally created as the official team sweater for Norway at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, in the French Alps, the men's Albertville sweater brings back one of Dale of Norway's most distinctive designs. Its expressive Norwegian patterns, bold colourwork, and chunky knit perfectly capture the character of early 1990s Nordic knitwear.

Over the years, the Albertville became a highly sought-after piece among vintage knitwear enthusiasts. Today, it has been reintroduced with careful attention to the original Olympic design, including the finely detailed neckline and thoughtfully selected yarn colours.

A Substantial Knit for Winter

Knitted in 100% lightweight wool, the Albertville has a substantial, chunky feel while retaining the natural comfort and breathability of wool. Its relaxed fit and classic crew neck make it equally suited as a ski sweater, a warm winter layer, or a distinctive everyday knit.

Two Expressions of Wool

The yarn composition varies by colourway. The Birch/Coffee version is crafted from Nature Undyed lightweight wool sourced from Uruguay. The natural shades of the wool fibres are sorted and blended to create distinctive tonal variations without the use of a dyeing process.

The Off White/Blue Shadow colourway is knitted in Seagull lightweight wool sourced from South America. Produced exclusively for Dale of Norway, this 27-micron yarn provides a lighter, softer wool ideally suited to traditional Norwegian knitwear.

The Heritage of Albertville 1992

Located in the French Alps near the Italian border, Albertville has a strong connection to alpine skiing and winter sports. It was in this setting that the original sweater made its debut in 1992. Faithful to the original Olympic design, this reintroduced edition carries forward one of the defining styles in Dale of Norway's knitwear heritage.
