Bjorøy Polar Mittens – Norwegian protection against cold and wind
Mittens built for demanding winter conditions
The Bjorøy Polar Mittens combine Dale of Norway’s traditional craftsmanship with practical winter performance. Inspired by the iconic pattern of the Bjorøy sweater, they deliver warmth, comfort, and protection from the elements in a timeless Nordic design.
Featuring a water-resistant construction and protective lining, these mittens are ideal for outdoor activities, winter walks, and cold days spent in the mountains or around town.
The durability of Norwegian wool
Knitted from 100% long-lasting Norwegian Plover wool, these mittens benefit from the natural warmth, durability, and resilience that Norwegian wool is known for. The polyester palm and lining add comfort and extra protection against cold and moisture.
The windproof construction helps retain warmth even in harsher winter weather conditions.
A pattern rooted in Norwegian heritage
The geometric pattern originates from the famous Sotra sweater, recognized by its repeated eight-petal roses separated by contrasting diagonal lines. Introduced to the island of Sotra around 1850 by traders and sailors from the Hardanger region, the design has become one of Norway’s most recognizable knitting traditions.
The mittens are named after Bjorøy, a small island located in the same archipelago as Sotra on Norway’s west coast.
